Building the PRIDE Family in West Central

Every child has a dream, to pursue the dream is in every child’s hand to make it a reality.

Last Friday, PRIDE Prep staff members and volunteers spent a night at the West Central Community Center for their annual Halloween Carnival.

Each year, over 400 families pass through the Halloween Carnival in the Center's gymnasium; students participate in activities hosted by different community partners and service providers in the community, and parents and guardians can ask questions, receive access to resources, and of course watch their students have a blast.

At the PRIDE Prep table, we wanted to encourage students to create something unique and have fun doing it. We brought in over 10 pounds of gum drops and boxes of toothpicks, and over the course of the next hour and a half, dozens of students passed by our table and tried their hand at building whatever structure or object they wished. We were amazed by the creativity exhibited in just a short time by each and every one of the students who stopped by.
