Egg Drop Experiments

Grades: 6th & 7th

Subjects: Science, Physics, Math, Engineering

Key Outcomes:

In this experiment, Ms. Amber’s Middle School students took on a role-play exercise to work as a consultant for a food packaging company.

Their goal was to find out the best way to carry an egg safely. They had to make recommendations to the engineers who design the boxes used to carry the eggs safely. The company wants to collect free range eggs from farmers in rural places without access to good roads, so they can be delivered safely.

After testing they had to write up why their experiment would work when being delivered based on the results of the drop! The product of the experiment will be a report for engineers that provides detailed scientific information about the best kinds of carriers for eggs.

Check out some snapshots of the process and testing phases in the gallery below!
